The Department of Planning and Development's 2027 SSA application cycle required feasibility studies by November 1, 2025. Approximately a dozen Chicago SSAs and prospective sponsoring nonprofits filed feasibility studies for new establishments and renewals. The 2027 cycle includes the Hyde Park SSA #61 reconstitution that has been in process since 2022.

For Chicago neighborhoods considering SSA formation in 2028, the next feasibility study deadline will fall in fall 2026. The current 2027 cycle is the active reference for procedural posture: feasibility study, application, public hearing, and Council adoption inside the standard 12-month window.
